Dudley gets face time with True North
By KEN WIEBE, QMI Agency

WINNIPEG - If True North Sports & Entertainment is any closer to figuring out who is going to be their general manager, they’re not telling.

The latest step in the process took place on Thursday in Toronto as chairman Mark Chipman and Manitoba Moose general manager Craig Heisinger held separate meetings with Atlanta Thrashers GM Rick Dudley and other staff members, including assistant GM Larry Simmons.

With the 2011 NHL Entry Draft just over three weeks away and the Winnipeg franchise holding the seventh overall pick, an overhaul isn’t expected but it wouldn’t be surprising to see some significant changes made in the hockey operations department.

Chipman is on record stating that Heisinger will play a “vital role” but isn’t sure if Heisinger even wants the title or responsibilities of an NHL general manager.

“We’re going to talk about that some more. I’m not sure he does. Zinger has earned the prerogative to decide what he wants to do in our organization and he’ll make that decision.”

Another member of the Thrashers organization that remains in limbo is head coach Craig Ramsay.

“Just waiting. No news,” Ramsay said in a text message from Tampa, Fla.
