Some guys get all the girls.
But in Alexander Ovechkin’s case, it might have finally caught up with him.
After news broke Monday that the NHLer’s fiancé, Maria Kirilenko, had abruptly called off a two-year engagement, a report out of Russia claims Ovechkin’s tennis-playing partner disbanded the relationship after questionable photos of Ovie popped up online.
The photos appear to show the Washington Capitals all-star getting friendly with 19-year-old Russian gymnast, Karolina Sevastyanova.
Russian media outlet, R-Sport was first to report the speculation after the photos appeared on the Instagram account of Vitaly Fridzon, a Russian basketball player.
So, before Ovechkin could officially put a ring on it, the 27-year-old tennis pro released a statement through the Russian Tennis Federation announcing her decision.
“I have made a decision to break up our engagement,” Kirilenko said. “There are a lot of reasons, but I wouldn’t want to go in detail.
"I’ll say just that our relationship is over, but I respect Sasha as a person and an athlete and sincerely wish him athletic success in the future.”
Ovechkin had attended a number of Kirilenko’s matches the last few years only to see his now ex’s tennis ranking plummet.
Sevastyanova, on the other hand, appears to be on the rise after winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Ovechkin is coming off another solid season with the Caps in which he scored 51 goals for 79 points in 78 games last season.
