ARLINGTON, VA. - The Washington Capitals hired former defenceman Calle Johansson as an assistant coach on Wednesday.

Johansson played a team-record 983 games with the Caps and is their career leader in assists and points by a defenceman. He retired in 2003.

The 45-year-old Swede has limited coaching experience, though. He was an assistant with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League in 2006-07 but has spent most of his time over the last 10 years as a colour commentator/analyst with a Swedish television station.

Would Seattle be a good city for the NHL to relocate to?
Yes, it'd be a great market.
  Maybe, who knows.
No, they should go to Quebec instead.
