The Washington Capitals re-signed left winger Jason Chimera to a two-year contract extension Thursday.

The deal is worth $3.5 million, according to the Washington Times.

"It's nice," Chimera told the Times. "Any time you've got a place where you win hockey games -- I'm not a dummy knowing how good this team is, and you want to be here a long time," Chimera said. "For me it was a no-brainer. It was nice that they showed some confidence in me to come to me and ask me if I wanted something."

Chimera had 10 goals and 16 assists in 81 games for the Caps last season.

The 32-year-old also has played for Edmonton and Columbus.
