WASHINGTON -- The Washington Capitals assigned defenceman Brian Fahey and goaltender Braden Holtby to Hershey of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Holtby has a 2-2-1 mark with a 3.84 goals against average along with a .850 save percentage over five games this season.

Washington's fourth-round pick in the 2008 draft, Holtby notched the first win of his career in a relief role on Nov. 5 against Boston. He followed that with a 23-save winning effort against the Flyers on Nov. 7 in his first career start.

Fahey made his NHL debut on Oct. 16 and over four games this season he is a minus-two.
