WASHINGTON -– The last time we saw Alexander Ovechkin, he was saying "I don’t know what happened," after his Washington Capitals lost Game 7 of their opening-round playoff series to the eighth-seeded Montreal Canadiens.

It sounds like he didn't spend too much time trying to figure it out over the summer.

"It was a pretty fun summer, just chilling with my friends and going out almost every night," said the Caps' captain after his first day on the ice here.

He spent about a month and a half off skates, but said he had been training hard in preparation for training camp.

When he was asked about what he had learned about his team in its loss to the Habs, Ovechkin replied: "Again, it was hard experience for us but we have to move on. We have to work the same as we did in the regular season but we have to think about the playoffs differently.

"We knew what we have to do. We have to play our game and be ourselves and not listen to anybody else and just concentrate on the game."

There you go.
