Caps re-sign Pettinger, two others

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals retained three free agents Wednesday, re-signing left wings Matt Pettinger and Graham Mink and defenceman Nolan Yonkman to one-year contracts.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pettinger, 23, appeared in 71 games last season, collecting seven goals and five assists. Washington's second-round pick in 2000, Pettinger has 14 goals and eight assists in 143 career games.

Mink, 25, made his NHL debut with the Capitals in 2003-04, recording two penalty minutes in two games. He spent most of the campaign with Portland of the American Hockey League, registering 18 goals and 19 assists in 68 contests.

The 23-year-old Yonkman was limited to one game with the Capitals and four with Portland last season due to a torn ACL in his left knee. The 1999 second-round pick has one goal and four penalty minutes in 12 career games.
