The Vancouver Canucks signed defenseman Cam Barker to a one-year contract Sunday.

Barker played in 23 games for the Texas Stars of the AHL this season, recording three goals and five assists.

He played in 25 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season, scoring two goals and picking up 23 penalty minutes.

In 296 career games with the Blackhawks, Wild and Oilers, Barker has 21 goals and 73 assists.

After benching Brad Richards should the New York Rangers eventually just buy him out?
  Yes.
  Might be a good idea.
