Canucks officially re-sign Schneider

The Vancouver Canucks officially re-signed goaltender Cory Schneider to a new contract Friday.
Several media websites reported that the deal is for three years and $12 million.
"Cory has displayed tremendous poise and professionalism since joining our organization," said Canucks general manager Mike Gillis, who first announced the deal Thursday on his Twitter account. "He has proven himself as a leader on and off the ice and has shown an unwavering commitment to being the best at his position."
Schneider, 26, posted a 20-8-1 record with a 1.96 goals against average, .937 save percentage and three shutouts last season. The Boston College product supplanted starter Roberto Luongo in the playoffs, starting the Canucks' final three games in their first-round defeat to Los Angeles.
Selected 26th overall by the Canucks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Schneider has won 38 games and registered a 2.24 GAA and .928 save percentage in 68 career games (56 starts).
