Canucks sign Sturm, Higgins, Salo

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Canucks signed left wing Marco Sturm on Friday, adding the veteran for a reported one year and $2.25 million.

Sturm, 32, played 35 games this past season for the Kings and Capitals and posted a combined five goals and 16 points. He had one goal and two assists in nine playoff games for the Caps.

A first-round draft choice in 1996, Sturm played his first seven-plus seasons for the Sharks and has also spent time with the Bruins and Kings. He has 239 goals and 482 points in 890 career NHL games.

Terms of his deal were not released by the Canucks but were reported by the Vancouver Sun.

The Western Conference-champion Canucks also re-signed defenseman Sami Salo and left wing Chris Higgins on Friday.
