VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis is certain to miss more time after suffering his second concussion in less than two months.

The Vancouver Sun reported on Monday that Hamhuis was hurt during Sunday's 4-1 win at Columbus, when he fell and hit his head on the ice while teaming up with fellow defenceman Kevin Bieksa while laying a check on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash.

Hamhuis left the game and did not return.

Usually a durable defenceman, Hamhuis missed five games after he was on the wrong end of a hard but clean check from Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf on Feb. 9.

Signed by Vancouver at the start of free agency on July 1 to a six-year contract, the 28-year-old British Columbia native posted six goals and 23 points in 63 games this season for the club which sports the best record in the NHL.
