The obvious question on everyone's mind this week is how can the Canucks replace Manny Malhotra? It's official, they can't.

So I asked Canucks Twitter nation which Canuck needs to step up and play meaningful minutes in No. 27's absence.

@chrismoorlag: Has to be Maxim Lapierre. The best opportunity to show his abilities in a situation where he can shine.

When the playoffs begin the Canucks defence, no longer weighed down by the NHL salary cap, will consist of Alex Edler, Kevin Bieksa, Dan Hamhuis, Christian Ehrhoff, Sami Salo and probably Keith Ballard.

That is by far the deepest backend the NHL has seen in years. This blue-chip D will go a long way to keeping pucks out of their own net while providing solid secondary scoring. Consider them Malhotra by committee.

@Canuck_Bunny: This team is deep, the defence even deeper. Come playoffs, even without Manny, they will be a mean piece of business.

The one up side here is Malhotra’s offensive numbers at just 30 points are replaceable. There are candidates that have suffered through some embarrassing slumps that still have the opportunity to salvage the season by getting hot at the right time. I'm talking to you Mason Raymond!

@VanSportsChick: Everybody does not love Raymond right now.

Oh how a couple big postseason goals could change all of that.
