The Canucks are awaiting word on Manny Malhotra, who was struck in the eye with a puck in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Colorado.

The centre underwent surgery following the game and was scheduled to see a specialist Thursday. Coach Alain Vigneault didn't want to speculate on the severity of the injury, but noted the concern was about Malhotra's vision. There were no broken bones.

"We're the team that obviously has had a fair amount of injuries to key players on our team and we've kept on performing and we've kept on winning," Vigneault said. "I don't expect that to change."

The Canucks recalled winger Victor Oreskovich and moved Mason Raymond to centre on the third line at practice.

Vancouver hosts the Phoenix Coyotes Friday at Rogers Arena (Game time 7 p.m. on SNET-P).
