Nashville, TN - Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa has a fractured foot, but it is unclear how much time he will miss.
Bieksa apparently suffered the injury while blocking a shot during a 4-1 win at Minnesota on Tuesday.
"It's one of those things where I kind of knew. I had a feeling. We get hit in the foot thousands of times with pucks and you can tell there's something wrong," Bieksa said in an interview following a Thursday practice in advance of a game against the Predators.
"It didn't feel like a usual shot, and that hurt. X-rays were nice and they came back negative but it happened to me two years ago when x-rays were negative but the CT scan shows a smaller fracture in the bone. So, it's a foot injury and I'll be re-evaluated when I get home."
Bieksa broke a bone in his left foot in November, 2008 and missed a month while recovering.
Vancouver, which leads the NHL with 83 points, completes its three-game road trip later Thursday then begins a six-game homestand on Saturday by welcoming Dallas.
The Canucks lost defenseman Andrew Alberts for 6-to-8 weeks with a broken wrist sustained in a loss at St. Louis on Monday.
