VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks on Friday recalled defenseman Sami Salo from Manitoba of the American Hockey League.
Salo has yet to play this season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon last July.
He appeared in three games for Manitoba, recording two goals during his conditioning assignment.
The 6-foot-3, 212-pound blueliner scored nine goals and dished out 19 assists in 68 games for the Canucks last season.
Since breaking into the NHL with Ottawa in 1998, Salo, who once boasted one of the hardest shots in the league, has compiled 81 goals and 273 points in 665 games. He's also contributed nine goals and 26 points in 74 postseason tilts.
Vancouver also assigned center Cody Hodgson to Manitoba.
