Canucks call up Bliznak from Moose

The Vancouver Canucks have called up Manitoba Moose centre Mario Bliznak, the AHL club announced Wednesday.

Bliznak, 23, scored one goal and three assist in AHL 13 games this season.

Last season, the Trencin, Slovakia native appeared in his first NHL game with the Canucks on Nov. 1, 2009 against the Colorado Avalanche. Bliznak recorded no points in his two game call-up with Vancouver.

Bliznak has played in 153 career games with Manitoba in his three-year pro career. He has scored 21 goals and 48 points, with 68 penalty minutes. He has also played in 27 career playoff games with the Moose, scoring five goals and eight points, with 10 penalty minutes.

Bliznak was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the seventh round (205th overall), in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
