The Vancouver Canucks might be rethinking the possibility of trading defenceman Kevin Bieksa.

The club announced Friday that Canucks defenceman Sami Salo is out indefinitely after suffering an Achilles tear in training.

According to Finnish reports, Salo suffered the injury playing floor hockey.

No timetable has been set for his return, although it could be months before he is back on the ice.

Salo, 35, is no stranger to injury, having never played a full season in the NHL. Last season, the defenceman missed 14 games because of a sprained right MCL, as well as eye, groin and leg injuries.

Bieksa, 29, has been a candidate to be traded to allow the Canucks to get under the salary cap.
