Having already missed over 200 career games due to injuries, Sami Salo continues that trend with another ailment.

The Finnish defenceman will be sidelined for four to six weeks after an MRI revealed yesterday he has a sprained MCL in his right knee.

Salo suffered the injury during a first-period play in Sunday's game when he collided with Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars.

So far this season, he has one assist in five games.

With Salo out, Aaron Rome jumps into the lineup as the sixth defenceman, as Mathieu Schneider is still recovering from a shoulder injury.

The Canucks can also bring up Mike Funk, Nathan McIver, or Evan Oberg from the AHL, while Lawrence Nycholat (shoulder) is unavailable and Brad Lukowich will need to go through waivers if recalled.

Meanwhile, Guillaume Desbiens, who played his first NHL game Sunday, was sent back down to Manitoba yesterday, as the Moose host the Abbotsford Heat tonight.
