But then the 38-year-old was getting married -- to girlfriend of two years Josephine Johansson, 26.
And what a wedding: Under a dazzling late-summer sun with dozens of celebrities on hand, including hockey stars Peter Forsberg, Tie Domi, Daniel Sedin and Fredrik Modin.
"Mats may have found his love," said his agent, Claes Elefalk. "But I do think that he will have time for hockey in the winter."
