The Vancouver Canucks added young Russian winger Sergei Shirokov to their club on Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shirokov told Russian media earlier this month that he was leaving for the NHL and would appear at the Canucks' development camp.

Shirokov, 23, recorded 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) in 56 games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL last season. He has also appeared in two World Junior Championships as a member of team Russia in 2005 and 2006. In 12 games played over two tournaments, Shirokov registered seven goals and 13 points.

The native of Moscow was drafted 163rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
