Another ex-Toronto Maple Leaf is heading to Vancouver.

The Canucks filled their backup goaltending void Monday by signing Andrew Raycroft to a one-year deal worth $500,000.

Having played in Toronto for two seasons before signing with Colorado last year, the "Rayzor" - as he was known in Toronto - hopes being partners with Roberto Luongo this time around will help improve his own game.

"I'm looking forward to being around that and just hopefully be a sponge," said the 6'0", 185-pound goaltender. "I'm looking forward to learning from him."

The Belleville, Ontario native posted a 12-16 record last year with a measly 3.14 GAA and a .892 save percentage.

However, at the league minimum in salary, it's a solid pickup for a player who will be riding the pine for most of the season.

Cue Cory Schneider trade rumours?

Canucks GM Mike Gillis also re-signed blueliner Shane O'Brien Monday to a one-year, $1.6-million contract.

It's about a $600,000 raise from last season for a defenceman who was second in the league with 196 PIM, but finished with no goals, 10 assists, and a plus-5 rating in the regular season.
