A potential fan favourite this upcoming season, new enforcer Darcy Hordichuk is ready to patrol the ice for Vancouver. The 6'1", 215-lb left winger signed a three year contract with the Canucks after having previously played for Nashville, Florida, Phoenix and Atlanta - amassing a total of 747 penalty minutes.
24 hours: Talk about day one of training camp and finally skating with the team.
#24 Darcy Hordichuk: It's good to get the first day of camp out of the way but it's pretty intense out there. I'm just looking forward to the pre-season starting right away. It'll be fun getting into it."
24: What do you say is the biggest factor in you signing a three-year deal with Vancouver this summer?
Hordichuk: I'm just not a tough guy to grab onto the ice. You know, the fact that I can bring some other dimensions of the game, being physical is one of them, so I know my role and I'm pretty disciplined and that's why I've been in the league for a while.
24: You have your own blog on Canucks.com with the first entry this past week. How are your writing skills?
Hordichuk: I gotta get someone else to write for me, but it's going to be fun. It's something they just started for the whole year and I'm going to give them as much information as they need.
24: You mentioned on the blog that you and your wife are expecting your first child. How are you two handling the move to Vancouver so far?
Hordichuk: It's been great. The area that we live in is great and that makes it easier for everything. We're excited to be here.
24: Who in the Northwest are you most looking forward to fighting?
Hordichuk: Anybody who's willing to drop the gloves. I don't have any guy picked out already and I'm just looking forward to going out there and hitting guys.
24: What specific goal have you set for yourself this year?
Hordichuk: I just want to be an impact to the team so I'm looking forward to coming out here and working hard and trying to make a difference.
