The Vancouver Canucks have a new face in their pre-season roster.

Veteran defenceman Dan McGillis joined the team yesterday on a professional tryout. The 35-year-old has 56 goals and 182 assists with five NHL teams.

His most recent team was the New Jersey Devils where he played 27 games in 2005-2006.

Aaron Miller missed training camp because of abdominal surgery. Sami Salo fractured his wrist in the camp-ending scrimmage. Willie Mitchell is suffering a groin pull.

The Canucks played the Edmonton Oilers last night and visit the San Jose Sharks tomorrow and Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Regular season begins Oct. 5.
