Goaltender Corey Schneider is expected to start for the Vancouver Canucks when the Calgary Flames visit GM Place tonight (7 p.m. Team 1040).

Curtis Sanford was between the pipes to begin the eight-game exhibition schedule Monday against the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks in a 3-2 losing cause. He allowed two goals before Drew McIntyre took over in the second period. Duck Petteri Wirtanen had two goals, including the overtime winner. Ex-Duck Ryan Shannon assisted Nathan McIver's second period goal. Daniel Sedin had the Canucks' other marker late in the third.

Canucks scratches included Markus Naslund, Roberto Luongo, Sami Salo and Trevor Linden. Luongo was hit in the neck during Sunday's Victoria scrimmage. Salo fractured his left wrist, and Linden pulled a groin, also in the final event of training camp.

When the Flames visit, it'll be a bittersweet homecoming for Calgary coach Mike Keenan, who was sacked by the Canucks after two tumultuous seasons in Vancouver during 1997-1999.

The Edmonton Oilers visit tomorrow night before the Canucks travel to San Jose and Anaheim on Saturday and Sunday.
