Jeff Cowan looks like he could be the third Sedin brother. Now he's playing like it.

The 30-year-old, who was waived by the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 30, scored twice last night in the Vancouver Canucks' 4-3 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild.

Cowan also scored a shorthanded, unassisted goal - his first as a Canuck - in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Minnesota's Marian Gaborik broke a 1-1 tie 40 seconds into the second period. Cowan netted the pair almost 10 minutes apart, both assisted by ex-Wild Willie Mitchell.

Kim Johnsson's third period power-play goal forced overtime. The game was finally settled in a six-round shootout. Daniel Sedin was credited with the winner.

Canucks have sole possession of third place in the Western conference by virtue of their northwest division lead. 2004's Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning make a rare visit tomorrow night.
