Northwest division-leading Edmonton Oilers make their second trip to GM Place tonight.
This time they'll be without left-winger Ryan Smyth.
Smyth is on the injured reserve after breaking his thumb in Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has 16 goals and six assists in 23 games. Smyth, however, didn't register a single point when Edmonton split 2-1 wins on consecutive nights in mid-October with the Canucks.
The Canucks, meanwhile, continued their low-scoring ways Saturday. But goaltender Roberto Luongo earned his pay.
Vancouver's $6-million netminder allowed in just one of the 41 Colorado Avalanche shots he faced in a 2-1 home win. It was his first career victory against Colorado and the Canucks' first this season after losing three meetings with Colorado.
"Forty shots on a night like this is something that's fun for me," Luongo said.
Daniel Sedin and Taylor Pyatt had Canucks' goals.
