Vancouver Canucks edged the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 1-0 last night, dealing the Western conference’s last place team its sixth shutout loss.

Markus Naslund scored the game’s only goal at 8:49 of the second period with assists from Henrik Sedin and Kevin Bieksa.

Blue Jackets came close with 5:23 left in the second when Canucks’ goaltender Roberto Luongo saved a Sergei Fedorov shot on the goal line.

Luongo faced 24 shots for his second shutout of the season. Columbus’ Pascale Leclaire stopped 32 of 33 in a losing cause.

Ex-Canuck Anson Carter was booed whenever he touched the puck. He led Vancouver with 33 goals last season but wasn’t rewarded with a new contract. Ex- Vancouver Giant Gilbert Brule also saw action for Columbus.

Anaheim Ducks visit tomorrow.
