Bring the game home

Will the Vancouver Canucks have opening night jitters tonight?

Or will it be home, sweet home when the San Jose Sharks visit?

Canucks, 2-1-1, host the Sharks at 7 p.m. (Team 1040/Sportsnet). Sharks played their National Hockey League debut at the Pacific Coliseum in 1991, losing 4-3. Canucks were 5-3 winners over San Jose to begin the 2002-2003 schedule at General Motors Place.

San Jose visits Vancouver without rest after last night's game in Edmonton against the Oilers, the team that eliminated them from the Western conference semifinals. Canuck Sami Salo will miss the opener with a strained groin suffered in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. But all eyes will be on new goaltender Roberto Luongo in his first meaningful start at the Garage.

What is your opinion about the NHL's "three-point" games that end in overtime or shootout?
  Helps playoff races
  Hurts playoff races
  Has marginal effect
