Wade Flaherty is the only other veteran goaltender on the Canucks' pre-training camp roster.

The 38-year-old Terrace native spent last season with the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose and registered a 26-17-4 record. He's the provisional backup for Roberto Luongo, who was acquired from the Florida Panthers in June for Todd Bertuzzi.

That was the Canucks' only major deal since missing the playoffs in April. Luongo and Flaherty are among 29 veterans set to report to General Motors Place on Sept. 14. New head coach Alain Vigneault will lead workouts in Vernon from Sept. 15-18. Vancouver's eight-game exhibition schedule begins Sept. 19 in Calgary.

Canucks' last two first- round picks headline the prospects camp, which gets underway Friday with 38 players.

Defenseman Luc Bourdon, Vancouver's 2005 top pick, and Austrian forward Michael Grabner, the club's 2006 first rounder, gather at GM Place before moving Saturday to Burnaby's 8-Rinks for four days of training. Sessions are free and open to the public.
