The Vancouver Canucks took a moment yesterday to introduce the city's new $27 million netminder Roberto Luongo and free-agent signing defenceman Willie Mitchell at GM Place.

Luongo, acquired from the Florida Panthers last week, changes the Canucks' team-building approach, decribed by David Nonis as "building from the net out."

"It's safe to say we've never had anyone of Roberto's calibre in Vancouver..." Nonis said. "We're still going to play an up-tempo style. We're still going to play a game that you want to watch but we're going to be a lot harder to score against."

For Luongo, the Vancouver trade means he could possibly take to the ice for his first playoff game.

"I've been in the league for five or six years and I haven't played a playoff game so far..." Luongo said, adding that the Canadian spotlight will bring out his A-game.

"The bigger the stage the more centered I get and the more I feel like I elevate my level of play."
