Greg Johnson's unassisted short handed goal 45 seconds into the third period paved the way for a 3-1 Nashville Predators' win over the Vancouver Canucks last night in Tennessee.
It was the first of three meetings for the teams during the first half of March.
The teams were scoreless until Markus Naslund gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead on a power play at 2:15 of the second period. Todd Bertuzzi and Nolan Baumgartner assisted. Canucks failed to score on 10 other power play chances.
Yanic Perrault tied it for the Predators at 17:01 on a power play with help from Paul Kariya and Adam Hall.
Johnson's goal was followed at 6:09 of the third when Dan Hamhuis and Scottie Upshall set up Mike Sillinger. Sillinger, a former Canuck, put the even strength, backhand shot past Canucks' goaltender Alex Auld.
Predators' goaltender Tomas Vokoun saved 41 of 42 shots. Auld faced 20.
Canucks meet the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at 5:30 p.m. (CKNW/Sportsnet) before returning home to play the St. Louis Blues Sunday night at General Motors Place (7 p.m., CKNW/pay-per-view).
Nashville visits Vancouver March 9 before hosting the Canucks again on March 14.
