The expected cancellation of the season could cost the Canucks their beloved captain, not to mention untold millions of dollars.

Markus Naslund does not have a contract for next season, and will become an unrestricted free agent.

"I'll sit down and look over my plans in the summer," Naslund told the TEAM 1040 radio station in Vancouver yesterday. "I do not know if I'll be back in Vancouver."

Other important Canucks who would have been playing under one-year deals this season included goalie Dan Cloutier, and forwards Henrik and Daniel Sedin and Brendan Morrison. The status of forward Todd Bertuzzi, who has not played since attacking Steve Moore last March, remains up in the air.

It's expected the Canucks will lose in the range of $30 million Cdn. with a cancelled season. If there is one positive side to the lockout, it's that promising youngsters Ryan Kesler, Alex Auld and Jason King all have been playing a lot in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose.
