Roberto Luongo is heading back to Florida.

The veteran goalie, who played with the Panthers from 2000-06, has been traded by the Vancouver Canucks back to the Sunshine state in a shocking deal on Tuesday. The Canucks will receive young goalie Jacob Markstrom and centre Shawn Matthias as part of the return.

So ends the Luongo soap opera in Vancouver, where the shoddy treatment he has received by Canucks management finally has come to an end.

Eighteen months ago, GM Mike Gillis had Luongo and Cory Schneider between the pipes. Now he has Markstrom and Eddie Lack.

Certainly the Canucks do not look good in this entire process.
