TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded gritty forward Mike Brown to the Edmonton Oilers for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft.

The Leafs made the announcement at their morning skate on Monday at the Air Canada Centre where they were preparing for their home game against the New Jersey Devils.

Leafs general manager Davis Nonis addressed the media after the skate and said that the fourth-round pick was a “hard pick” but that it could turn into a higher pick depending on how the Oilers fair.

Nonis said the move was made primarily to clear a roster spot.
