NASHVILLE - The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired goalie Anders Lindback from the Nashville Predators on Friday, in exchange for goalie Sebastian Caron, two second-round picks and one third-rounder.

The Bolts also got fringe forward Kyle Wilson and a seventh-round pick.

Lindback, 24, who had a 5-8-2 record with a 2.42 goals-against average as a backup goalie with the Preds last season, could compete for the No. 1 job with Tampa Bay.

NO SURGERY FOR FLYER

Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk will not require hip surgery, general manager Paul Holmgren said Friday.

Instead, the 23-year-old New Jersey native will do rehab to heal the injury.

"After consultation with various doctors regarding James' hip injury, we have come to the conclusion that surgery is not necessary," Holmgren said in a statement. "We will treat James' hip with alternative therapies and non-surgical procedures. It is expected that James will be 100% well before training camp begins."

Van Riemsdyk was limited to 43 regular-season games because of a concussion and a broken left foot. He had 11 goals and 13 assists before returning for seven playoff games.

SENS' BREWERY BURNS

Days after opening Big Rig Brewery in Ottawa, Senators defenceman Chris Phillips had to shut the restaurant Friday because of a fire.

"He'll be shut down probably for a couple of days," Ottawa Fire spokesman Marc Messier said.

The electrical fire caused about $25,000 damage. Phillips and his wife were at the restaurant when crews arrived.
