Raleigh, NC - The Carolina Hurricanes acquired left wing Cory Stillman from the Florida Panthers on Thursday for forward Ryan Carter and a fifth-round pick in the 2011 draft.

Stillman comes back to the team he won a Stanley Cup with in 2006 and left during the 2007-08 season.

In 44 games with the Panthers this season, he has seven goals and 16 assists. Over 16 seasons in the NHL, he has 273 goals and 438 assists in 1,004 games with the Flames, Blues, Lightning, Hurricanes, Senators and Panthers.

"This was a good opportunity for us to add some experience," said Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford. "Cory adds more depth to our forward lines and we are familiar with what he is capable of doing offensively."

He shined in the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs as he totaled nine goals and 17 assists over 25 games to help the franchise to its first championship. He also won a Cup with the Lightning in 2004.

Carter has appeared in 170 games over four seasons with Anaheim and Carolina. He has 12 goals and 20 assists during that time.
