The Chicago Blackhawks continued their extreme home makeover today.

The Stanley Cup champions have shipped restricted free agent forward Andrew Ladd to the Atlanta Thrashers for defensive prospect Ivan Vishnevskiy and a second round pick.

Ladd, 24, had 38 points in 82 games for Chicago last year. The Thrashers acquired Vishnevskiy from the Dallas Stars in the Kari Lehtonin trade back in February 2010.

The Flyers have added much-needed depth to their defence, but it comes with a hefty price tag.

In the first trade of the 2010 NHL free agency season, the Flyers have acquired defenceman Andrej Meszaros from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second round draft pick in 2012.

The 6-foot-2 blueliner signed a six-year deal with the Lightning in 2008 with a cap hit of $4-million per year. In 133 games for Tampa Bay, he has 8 goals and 25 assists with a +/- of -18.

More to come as the day progresses.
