TORONTO - Attention, any candidates interested in vying to be Tim Leiweke’s replacement as the head honcho of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment.

If you really want to take a shot at the job, perhaps you should heed the words of Richard Peddie, a man who once was at the helm of the MLSE ship himself.

“I always said that 20% of my job was managing the board (of directors),” Peddie told the Toronto Sun during a phone interview on Thursday. “I would imagine that number likely would be bigger right now (with) Bell and Rogers on the scene.”

In Leiweke’s case, it is believed certain members of the board, which includes representatives from rival communication giants Bell and Rogers, wanted him out. Interestingly, just one day after the board met, MLSE issued a release on Thursday morning saying that Leiweke’s reign would expire on June 30, 2015, perhaps sooner if a suitable candidate was brought in beforehand.

Coincidence? We think not.
