TORONTO - With the 2014 NHL title on the line Wednesday, the man who scored the 2013 Stanley Cup winner must yearn to play for a champion again.

But Dave Bolland insists he wants his next chance to be with the Maple Leafs, a team well out of the Cup running at this stage and one that might not even commit to him next season. No matter, Bolland wants to stay and says he’ll be “100%” healthy to make the contribution that an ankle tendon injury denied him last season.

Bolland and the club must overcome the NHL salary cap, his wish to cash in on unrestricted free agency and the Leafs’ concern about his recovery from the career threatening mishap last November.

“You have a lot of options and you want to explore the market, but I want to be a Leaf,” Bolland said Tuesday after he was guest drawmaster for Saturday’s Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk Raceway in Campbellville. “It’s a business and I learned that last year when I got traded (to the Leafs by Chicago).
