The hockey season isn’t quite done for some Maple Leafs.

Defenceman Morgan Rielly and centre Tyler Bozak have been approached by Team Canada to play at the world championships in Minsk, Belarus, May 9-23.

“I was asked, but I haven’t made a decision and I haven’t been formally asked to go,” said Bozak. “We’ll see in the next few days.”

Team Canada general manager Rob Blake went through Toronto GM Dave Nonis with his requests, Nonis having held the same job in 2011. Teams usually like their young stars to get as much exposure to the game as possible in a non-playoff year. Rielly had a great rookie year with the Leafs.

“I would hope our players would accept,” Nonis said of the invites. “And they might not be the only ones on our team to be considered.”
