On Saturday, James Reimer celebrated his 26th birthday.

On Sunday against the Washington Capitals, he hopes to celebrate a second consecutive big game in the Maple Leafs net.

The Toronto goaltender is expected to get the call when the Leafs face the Caps in Game 4 of the team’s five-game road trip. Reimer was sensational in relief of injured Jonathan Bernier on Thursday as he stopped all 31 shots he faced in a 3-2 Leafs victory.

Bernier did not practise with the team here at the Caps suburban team facility and instead received treatment for a lower-body injury. Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said that Bernier is likely to receive an MRI before his status is properly assessed.
