LOS ANGELES - James van Riemsdyk is good.

Take his word for it.

“I don’t want to get into it, I am back, I’m fine, I’m ready to go,” the Maple Leafs forward said after the team’s morning skate on Thursday at the Staples Center.

In question was the thundering body check captain Dion Phaneuf laid on van Riemsdyk — accidentally — early in the third period of the Leafs’ 6-2 loss in San Jose against the Sharks on Tuesday night.

Van Riemsdyk, who had not talked to reporters since the hit, would only agree that Phaneuf was a hard hitter.

With van Riemsdyk, who surprisingly returned to the game against the Sharks despite the score, good to go, there’s a more pressing matter for the Leafs on Thursday night.

The Los Angeles Kings are the top defensive team in the National Hockey League, having given up just 139 goals this season.
