Three weeks off between games has only increased the intrigue around the Maple Leafs lineup.

Centre Dave Bolland’s long-awaited return is postponed at least one game, while Colton Orr and Carter Ashton remain day-to-day. And the full readiness of Phil Kessel and James van Riemsdyk is in some doubt. Kessel practised Wednesday but hustled to be first off the ice as the team headed to Long Island, while his Team USA linemate took the club up on its offer for a second day off skates.

First to Bolland, who came out wearing a dark mauve practice jersey on Wednesday, an ominous sign after working out regularly with Mason Raymond and Nikolai Kulemin. With Bolland on the fringe, Kulemin moved to the middle with Raymond and Troy Bodie.
