Randy Carlyle’s emphasis couldn’t have been more clear.

“We think (Dave) Bolland can have a huge impact,” the Maple Leafs coach said after the team practised on Thursday at the MasterCard Centre.

“We think that any time you can add a player of that calibre, it does change the makeup of your lineup. There is no ifs, ands or buts.”

The question is, when will Bolland, who has missed 45 games since suffering a lacerated tendon on his left ankle in a game against the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 2, return?

Will it be next Thursday, when the Leafs resume their 2013-14 regular season after the Olympic break on the road against the New York Islanders?
