TORONTO - This wasn’t Darcy Tucker jumping into the Ottawa Senators’ bench, nor was it Tie Domi decking Magnus Arvedson, nor Daniel Alfredsson crushing Tucker from behind into the boards.

The Battle of Ontario involving the Maple Leafs and Senators doesn’t have the hatred that it once did — a playoff matchup would put it back on course — but there were hints on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

None more than Nazem Kadri’s hit on defenceman Cody Ceci, a play that led to the Leafs’ second goal in a 6-3 Toronto victory.

Kadri slammed Ceci behind the Senators net and passed to Joffrey Lupul, who promptly deposited the puck behind goaltender Craig Anderson.

The Leafs were not worried that the NHL might give the hit a long look. No penalty was called by referees Paul Devorski and Dan O’Halloran.
