NEW YORK - Just one season ago, a Maple Leafs-Rangers tilt at the self-proclaimed World’s Most Famous Area would have featured a goaltending matchup between James Reimer and Henrik Lundqvist.

Come Monday night at Madison Square Garden, both players will be nailed to the end of their respective benches when Toronto and New York face off in what is the final game for both teams prior to Christmas.

By starting goalies Jonathan Bernier and Cam Talbot, some would accuse coaches Randy Carlyle and Alain Vigneault of being Scrooges this close to Santa’s annual visit.

But don’t count Reimer and Lundqvist among those who share that view.
