In the coming days, the Big House will be getting a frosty makeover.
While ice-making equipment will be arriving at Michigan Stadium later this week, HBO cameras already have invaded the dressing rooms of both the Detroit Red Wings and Maple Leafs. You can almost hear Leafs coach Randy Carlyle bleeping about it, too.
Indeed, the Winter Classic is less than a month away and preparations are in full force, the keys to the Big House having been handed over to the NHL after the Michigan-Ohio State football game on Nov. 30.
“This is our biggest game ever,” NHL chief operating officer John Collins said in a phone interview.
And, arguably, the “biggest” celebration of the sport we have ever seen.
