Carter Ashton’s brain drain has resulted in a lot of pain, both for his banged-up beak and in his wallet.

Ashton has been suspended for two games after recklessly driving the Calgary’s Derek Smith into the boards from behind during the second period of the Maple Leafs 4-2 victory over the Flames on Wednesday night.

Moments after the incident, the Flames’ Shane O’Brien came to the aid of his fallen teammate and dropped the gloves with Ashton, leaving the Leafs forward with a banged-up, bloodied nose. sciplinarian Brendan Shanahan explained the danger involved in the incident.
