In the words of Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle, forward James van Riemsdyk appears "closer" to returning to the Toronto lineup.

If only Carlyle could get his troops to get "closer" to returning to the defensively smothering style he wants his team to play.

Despite failing to dominate any of their seven games thus far, the Leafs are off to their best start in 20 years with a 6-1 record.
