TORONTO - Phil Kessel only has two regrets about the slashing incident with Buffalo Sabres tough guy John Scott that got the Leafs sniper suspended for the last three games of NHL pre-season.

One, the second slash that likely led to the suspension.

And two, that he may be subjected to Randy Carlyle “bag” skates in the days leading up to the season opener next Tuesday in Montreal.

As for protecting himself from the ridiculous situation he was put in — one of the league’s bonafide heavyweights asking him to scrap, Kessel has no second guesses.
